Abingdon Adventure

Thames Valley 18 Hole Shield Competition

It's been a while since we had an early season outing, so the Committee have elected to go for a one day spectacular in Abingdon.     Much to the gratification of Mrs. Johnstone, we will be playing for the Durex Shield on May 16th, 2009. In fact the Committee have received money from her to ensure that IJO doesn't win it again and take it back home.

Directions to either the Golf Course or the Hotel can be found in the links at the bottom of the page.

Hinksey Heights Golf Course         Course Web Site

The solitary official round of golf will be played at the Hinksey Heights Golf Course. Heights smacks of Hills again, but we've got buggies this time, so no sweat. Tee-off times and more details will be sent to members by the Society's secretary in his next missive - early indications are that the first group will tee-off around midday.

Accommodation - Crown & Thistle Hotel         Hotel Web Site

Yet another town centre hotel for you and this one's got it's own pub attached as well as a residents bar. Didn't they do well?

If anyone has not yet contacted Ian with their hotel requirements, please do so ASAP so that he can confirm the bookings with the hotel. Some are staying Friday & Saturday nights, others Saturday only. There's nobody yet who's sensible enough to just stay on the Friday and give the golf a miss altogether.
