Big Dick will make huge impression on Littlehampton

Venue Confirmed Changed!

Yes, for this year's golfing extravaganza, we were going to be based in the picturesque Sussex town of Littlehampton. However your ever vigilant Committee sent out a spy to check on whether it was worthwhile gracing Littlehampton with the Society's presence.

Sure enough their doubts were confirmed when Member Brew, current Suckling Pig Trophy holder, sent in his comprehensive report. He actually had the cheek to convince his wife that their weekend trip was a Birthday treat! Click here for Pete's damning expose of a town gone bad.

Following Pete's investigations, the Committee have decided to opt for safety and head for the revered old Sussex town of Worthing. This town has the highest percentage of pensioners per capita in the whole country, so we'll fit right in. Click on the pictures below to link to the venues websites.

Friday

The weekend begins with a 9 hole handicap competition for the Durex Shield replacement at Rustington Golf Centre, Angmering, about 1 mile from Littlehampton

We will be playing their famous 9 hole course where CGS members are competing in three groups for the Durex Shield. Kev Ryan, outright holder of the shield, has graciously returned the beloved trophy, to be played for by the Society in perpetuity.

Tee-off times are tba but we're aiming for a first tee-off time of around 1:30.

Rustington Golf Centre
Hill Barn GC Saturday

The new day brings hangovers, tales of the night before and, unfortunately, 18 holes of golf at the Hill Barn Golf Club.

We will be playing their shortish 18 hole course where members, again in 3 groups, will be competing for the CGS Suckling Pig Trophy.

Tee-off times are 11:30, 11:37 & 11:45

Accommodation

We will be staying at the pre-war (built in 1898, so it's pre Boer War) Grand Victorian Hotel in Worthing. Hotel has Bar, Restaurant and a Nightclub next door for Asteroid to fall asleep in. Once again the committee have found a gem. It's also handy for Worthing Station for the Trainspotters amongst us Bomber

Grand Victorian Hotel
Handicap Handicaps

Dick's current handicap is a Ventral Hernia, yet another sign of old age, so he will not be playing, merely observing, sniggering and generally giving bad advice on errant swings. Also elevated himself to position of official photographer, so get your hair cut before the weekend. Handicaps for those actually capable of starting are available on the new Handicaps page. Click on the wheelchair.

Standard golf club dress code applies on both days. Please avoid slow play
